Our Smartphone-Free School Pledge
At St Mary Magdalen’s, we are committed to creating a calm, safe and distraction-free environment where every child can learn, grow and thrive. As part of this commitment, we are a smartphone-free school. This means that smartphones and other internet-enabled devices, including smartwatches with communication or social media functions, should not be brought onto the school site.
Our decision is rooted in our mission to Praise God, Love, Learn, Respect and Shine. We want children to look up, engage with the world around them, build meaningful friendships and enjoy childhood, free from the pressures and distractions that smartphones can bring. By reducing screen-based distractions, we can better support children's wellbeing, concentration, social development and safety.
Together, as a school community, we pledge to:
- Look up and live
- Make real-life connections
- Have unplugged adventures
Thank you for supporting us in helping our children develop healthy habits, strong relationships and a positive balance between technology and everyday life.
