Class Chaplains
Who We Are
Our Class Chaplains are two children from each class in Years 1 - 6 who help support the spiritual and moral life of the school.
They work closely with our Chaplaincy Team and meet each week to plan how we can live out our Gospel Values and Catholic Social Teachings as a school community.
What We Do
Leading Prayer: Class chaplains help lead prayers during school assemblies, special events, or in the classroom. They may also help organise prayer services or times of reflection for their classmates.
- Supporting Others: Class chaplains offer support and encouragement to other students. If someone is feeling sad or needs help, the chaplain can listen to them and offer to pray for them.
- Helping with Religious Events: They assist with planning and participating in religious activities such as Masses, school liturgies and worships. They might read during Mass,
- serve on the altar, or help with setting things up.
- Catholic Social Teaching: Class Chaplains present the ideas of their classmates about how we can live out our Gospel Values and put Catholic Social Teaching into action. This may include planning and running events, supporting people in our community, raising money for charity and finding ways to look after the world God gave us.
- Being a Role Model: As a Class Chaplain, they try to live in a way that shows kindness, respect, and faith. They are seen as role models for their peers, showing what it means to follow Jesus in everyday life.
- Encouraging Faith: Class Chaplains encourage other students to grow in their faith and be more involved in the spiritual life of the school. They help to create a positive and caring atmosphere.
Class Chaplains will meet regularly with those who support them to learn more about faith and to plan and reflect on their ministry.

CHILDREN FROM EACH CLASS ARE REPRESENTED ON OUR SHINING LIGHT RE COUNCIL
The role of our prayer council is to:
- help our school be a community of faith;
- support liturgy, collective worship, prayer and the spiritual life of our school; involve pupils in fundraising for charities;
- support the school in our Mission Statement;
- develop good relationships within and beyond our school community.
Children enjoy using the garden at lunchtimes to spend time being with each other, praying and having a quiet space to sit and reflect.
